North West Lightning Academy

Following the success of last two years' North West Lightning Academy, we will be running a similar program prior to the start of the 2022 hockey season. Return to Hockey Guidelines will be followed at each venue with a COVID Safety Plan operating that incorporates each shire’s guidelines.

To ensure the sustainability of the program, a minimum of 15 participants is required at each venue. Expressions of interest are required by Thursday 2nd December.

 

Key Information

• Open to players born in 2004 – 2011
• Commencing the week of February 6th 2022
• Venues include Bendigo, Dimboola, Mildura and St Arnaud (numbers dependent)
• Training on Sunday mornings from 10am - 12pm in Bendigo, Dimboola and St Arnaud, and midweek in Mildura from 6pm - 8pm
• 6-week program, including 2 match days
• Training dates are February 6^th and 13^th, March 6^th and 20^th
• Game dates are February 27th in St Arnaud and March 27th in Bendigo
• The cost for players in Mildura and St Arnaud is $85
• The cost for players in Bendigo and Dimboola is $105
• Family discount of $10 for second and successive children and $20 discount for any members of a 2022 HV or Rising Star Academy

• Training shirt included in the cost (Previous members who do not require a training shirt can reduce the cost by $30)

The North West Lightning Academy will enhance a participant’s chances of selection for the Junior State Championships by being coached by JSC coaches and selectors. Players intending to trial for JSC are strongly encouraged to take part in the program.

Coach Information

Local coaches are set to benefit through the program too. The Head Coach, Jamie Pain will mentor local coaches, who will then deliver the sessions at each venue. Just like the players, any coaches wishing to coach at JSC are encouraged to become part of the program.  All coaches are paid an honorarium.
