New South Wales Rifle Association Precision Service Rifle Championships Prize 2023
Introduction
The NSW Rifle Association (NSWRA) will host a Precision Service Rifle Championships on Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd April 2023 at the Hornsby Rifle Range, North Shore Regional Shooting Complex.
The match will commence at 9:00am on each day.
On the Saturday, commencing at 8:00am, all competitors documentation and rifles will be scrutinized to ensure they comply with the requirements of the rifle class in which that competitor intends to shoot and grading confirmed where required for the competitor class.
The details of the match, the match rules, and eligibility to compete are set out below.
There will be three classes catered for at this match:
NATO Class- any rifle chambered in .223 Rem or .308 Win or their metric equivalent. Any case, powder, primer and projectile is allowed. Trigger weight greater than 1.0kg
OPEN Class- chambered in anything other than .223 Rem or .308 Win or their metric equivalent. Trigger weight greater than 500g.
SERVICE OPTIC-any rifle chambered in .223 Rem or .308 with a scope of no more than 4.5x magnification, and otherwise complies to all other specs of NATO class.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS A STRICT 8MM LIMIT ON HORNSBY RANGE IE NO PROJECTILES LARGER THAN 8MM MAY BE USED.
*NB* you will be asked to nominate which class you will be competing in at registration and please familiarise yourself with the SSR’s which explain in detail all rules common to both classes and specifically pertaining to each class
Please see note we now have our very own Chapter in the NRAA Standard Shooting Rules – Chapter 24. This is available online on the NSWRA website under Rules. Please ensure you have read these rules in particular the classes of rifle and the range commands.
This match will be using standard figure 11, figure 12, and figure 14 targets.
- The use of bipods, tripods, shooting sticks, back backs and slings etc. is allowed- SUBJECT TO MATCH CONDITIONS- but please note that all equipment used must be carried for the entire match.

- Location: Hornsby Rifle Range, Rosamond St Hornsby (behind Mt Wilga Hospital) Match sign-in at 08.00, briefing at 08.30, first rounds down range at 09.00 both days.
- PLEASE NOTE THAT COMPETITORS ARE REQUIRED TO MARK TARGETS AND EYE AND EAR PROTECTION MUST BE WORN WHILE IN THE TARGET GALLERY AND IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED WHILE SHOOTING
