Want to learn how to umpire or brush up on your umpiring skills?   

Whether you're keen to try out umpiring, build confidence for your club umpiring duties or just brush up on your skills, this is a great course to get started! Led by our Umpire in Chief, Duncan Lapsley, and our team of experienced Senior Blues, these umpire training sessions aim to build technical knowledge, provide practical coaching and get you ready to umpire this winter season and/or prepare you for your Level 1 Accrediation.

Session 3: The Rules of Softball - Register Now!

• When: Thursday 1 August
• From: 6:30pm to approx 8:00pm - please arrive at 6:20pm for a 6:30pm start
• Where: Turramurra Club, Bobbin Head Road
• Note: Drinks and dinner(Snack refreshments) are available for purchase from the club bar

Key Focus Areas:

It's not the intention to go through the basic rules however our Blues will be there to answer all questions. The focus of the session will be on the following areas:

• Fair / Foul / Dead balls
• Foul tips
• Safety base
• Pitching
• Pitcher's circle (hesitation / 8 foot rule)
• Overthrows
• Batted ball going over dead ball line
• Infield Fly
• Dropped third strike
• Batter hit
• Interference & Obstruction

At the end of the session, we can also discuss the requirements for achieving Level 1 umpire accreditation for those who are interested.
