Program Purpose
Our Under 10 program is a part of our overall representative and development pathways. Its purpose is to have some fun, create a strong connection and engagement with softball as a sport of choice, build softball and non-softball skills, and develop players in readiness for current and future representative selection.
We also aim to ensure our program builds player independence, empowers players to take part in their own development and meets individual player goals.
Program Expectations
To participate in either the representative or development program, it is an expectation that your child will attend the U10 trials, scheduled training sessions (traditionally held on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings) and scheduled tournaments (usually all day on a Sunday). Representative team players must also be available to participate in the U10 State Championship (held over a 2-3 day weekend).
Program Dates
Dates for the program are dependent on the U10 State Championship which is yet to be confirmed by Softball NSW. Generally, the U10 program includes:
Nov/Dec: 4-week skills program
Mid Jan to April: training and tournaments (all) plus state Championships (rep team only)
Program Eligibility
To be eligible to participate in the NSDSA Under 10 Representative & Development Program, players must be first registered with a North Shore District Softball Association Club and to have completed the Softball Australia/Softball NSW component of the registration for 2023/2024 softball year. Information on this will be made available prior to the trial date.
Players must also be under 10 years of age - yet no younger than 6 years of age – as at 31 December 2024.
The U10 Rep Team is primarily for those players turning 8 and 9 next year whilst the U10 Dev Team is primarily for those players turning 6 and 7 next year. Consideration may be given to players from the younger age group for the Rep Team.
