What to wear in the tropics

What to wear sailing in North Queensland

TOP TIP - It can be very warm over the summer in North Queensland. To protect yourself from sunburn it is highly recommended to wear lycra from wrist to ankles. This can be by means of a stinger suit available at most tackle / dive shops. Otherwise specific lycra tops and bottoms can be used.

This will ensure that a small patch of missed sunscreen will not result in a hideous red patch. Combine this with a good hat that covers the neck and ears and your set. You can keep very cool by keeping your stinger suit wet between races as this provides excellent evaporative cooling.

A full stinger suit is also the best defense against Jellyfish when you are entering and exiting the water. ( October to March)
