The Nagambie Lakes Sailing and Kayaking Club had a great beginning to our season at the Official Opening of the new Nagambie Lake Foreshore Walk, conducted by Strathbogie Shire, in October. The club presented an on-water display 'sail-by' with 3 yachts and a 'paddle-by' with 6 kayaks and crews.  So a great big thanks goes to the 25 or so club crew members involved in the day's events. Extra big thanks to Dave, our club sailing boat leader.

The Club Committee welcomes and thanks Gary for joining as a new Committee member. Gary brings extensive community experience to the committee. Any club member who would like to join the committee or a crew, please contact Bev, via club email, or chat at a function.

In October our Nagambie Boat Shed / Club House was visited by the Australian Sailing Club Support Officer, Nadine Tabak, who spoke to our club members about how Australian Sailing provide on-line resources and administration support for affiliated clubs. Nagambie Club Commodore, Bev, thanked Nadine for all her phone and email support in setting up the Nagambie club, since last year. Ross produced the original former NLSC club flag (burgee), which was unveiled by Nadine and assisted by Committee members, Bev & Geoff.

A Club Crew orientation session was conducted at the Boat Shed / Club House in October. The Club Safety Program was discussed and power-boat rescue crew and sailing crew were orientated to some basic safety processes by Safety Boat operators John & Joan, by Experienced Sailor Clive and by First Aider / Commodore Bev.  The Social crew provided delicious light refreshments, thanks to Bernie & Jill.

These club crew orientation sessions will continue during November, so that all crew will be able to attend.  Please contact Bev if you would like to be involved.

Sundays in November - The Club Committee is arranging working-bees for rescue boat, sailing boat and social crews, to help prepare the Boat Shed / Club House and private boats for club activities. Big shout out thanks to Geoffrey for painting the posts near the boat shed in canary yellow. Huge thanks to Dave for restoring the club Corsair yacht; to Gurbe for assisting Ross to repaint his Mirror sailing dinghy (yellow & red) and to all the crew for all their work. Members suggestions and offers to develop and improve the club are most welcome.

Club members are invited to join in for afternoon tea from 4pm on Sunday 5th November. Please bring a small plate of treats to share. If skippers, boats and weather permits we may have a couple of private sail boats on the lake. Our club Corsair yacht requires our club sailing boat leader to be present to provide sails for members and this is not likley on this date.

The sailing club Social Crew, lead by Bernadette, will be conducting the 'Meat Raffle' at the Rowing Club Hotel on Friday 10th November, from 6pm. Club members are most welcome to make their own table bookings at the bistro and catch up with other club members.

Please contact Club Committee (Bev) for further details, on Club Email: nagambiesailingclub@gmail.com
