Nominating position preferences
Please consider carefully, and talk to your child about nominations.
- Athletes often ask to trial differently to what their parents have nominated.
- We often get an overwhelming amount of nominations for Attacking/Defensive Midfielders and can only select a handful in each team.
- Please note that coaches/selectors may see potential in an athlete for an alternative position as to what has been nominated. This is a great opportunity for an athlete to grow and develop their skills
How field playing positions are considered:
Striker – includes a left, centre and right (also traditionally referred to as ‘left/right wing’ and ‘centre forward’). Strikers are expected to play in any of these.
Midfield – attacking/defensive - includes a left, centre and right (also traditionally referred to as ‘left/right inner’ and ‘centre half’).
Half – includes left and right, these are outside defenders.
Defender – includes a high (free defender/defensive midfielder) and low, these are central defenders (also traditionally referred to as fullbacks).
