Flexibility

We understand that it's not always possible to make it to your slot on time. You will notice there is some overlap with each group. Consider the times above as a guide to when you will have priority on the track. The reality is the earliest slots are not doing continuous efforts so you will be slotted in between the efforts of other riders if you are running late.

Overlap

Roadies and Trackies don't mix for safety reasons, but Track grades do overlap with other adjacent track grades.

You may arrive early for warm up, but you should match the pace of the allocated group. Eg, Hard Track group riders starting early may act as a derny as part of their warm up for the Medium group. Their "warm up" will be dictated by the coach. Eg set a steady pace for the Medium Track group, rather than bust up the group. If your warm up is not compatible (eg leading an Easy group), rollers are a good option until your session begins.

Notice: The Hard Track group and the Easy Track group times do not overlap by design. The Hard Track group "warm up" must not compromise the safety Easy Track group.

Groups

Non-Track Bikes

Remember, winter is "road season". Juniors who have completed less than two or three seasons should switch to road bikes between April and September. This gives us time to train juniors to use their gears effectively and practice drills that apply to road racing.

Adults train on track bikes all year round -you can get out and use your road bike away from Lidcombe Oval at other times. Consider riding with our Saturday Slowies group rides if you struggle with gears. -There are heaps of helpful riders there.

Novice Track

Adults who have never ridden a track bike before start here with one-on-one coaching. The focus is on safety, technique and etiquette. -Do not expect to work up a sweat in the first couple of weeks.

Juniors transitioning to track may also be in this group.

Notice: You should arrive 30mins early to your first session. This gives us time to locate a bike, provide a bike fit and make adjustments before your slot. Don't worry if you can't arrive that early. -It just means you will get less track time in the first week, but at least the bike will be ready for your next session.

Easy Track

For riders who can't sustain an hour at a medium pace. -Lower to middle Junior Track Racing grades will train here.

Medium Track

For riders who can't sustain an hour at a hard pace. -Higher Junior Track Racing grades through to slower Senior Track Racing grades train here.

Hard Track

For riders working at a hard pace. -Middle to highest Senior Track Racing grades train here.
