Course information
We welcome you to participate in this fun 4-day learn to sail course on the waters of beautiful Port Stephens!
Launching from the sandy beach, you will spend fun-filled hours each morning learning sailing skills, terminology, ropework and boat handling manoeuvres. This course is suitable for complete beginners with no prior sailing skills required.
Participants will sail on an O'pen Skiff sailing dinghy suitable for one child in the recommended age range of 8-13 years. The child will sail single-handed with the guidance of an Instructor.
The course will be conducted over four consecutive days with each daily session running for 2.5 hours from 9:00am to 11:30am. There are five (5) places available for each course.
This is an Australian Sailing accredited course with nationally recognised certification upon completion - $200 per sailor
The provied lifejacket must be worn at all times during the session.

Course Overview
This course introduces participants to dinghy sailing and its fundamental skills so they learn terminology and equipment and practice launching and returning to shore and capsize recovery.

Water confident.
Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a dinghy. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.
Course Outcome
You will gain your Start Sailing 1 completion certificate.
We recognise that some of our course participants are completing the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and may be using sailing and/or club membership to complete one or more sections of The Award. To learn more, click here.
