Course information
Take that next step in your sailing journey and progress from Start Sailing 2 onto Better Sailing & Start Racing. This regular weekly program is designed to extend your sailing skills so you begin to gain confidence and learn about sailing around-the-buoys. The goal is to eventually be ready to transition into the Green Fleet of the Sunday afternoon club racing program.
Participants will sail on an O'pen Skiff dinghy which is suitable for one child in the recommended age range of 8-13 years. The child will sail single-handed with the guidance of an Instructor. Participants should have previously completed Start Sailing 2 or Tackers 3 courses or have prior sailing experience.
The course will be conducted over six Saturday mornings with each session running for 2.5 hours from 9:00am to 11:30am. There are five (5) places available for this program.
This is an Australian Sailing accredited course with nationally recognised certification upon completion - $260 per sailor
The provided lifejacket must be worn at all times during the session.
ACTIVE KIDS vouchers may be used for this program. The voucher number should be listed during registration as well as using the DISCOUNT CODE activekids prior to making payment

Course Overview
This course focuses on sailing in stronger winds and introducing extra equipment like spinnaker and trapeze to leverage the full boat potential on the water.
Course Prerequisites
Water confident, and you should have the skills, knowledge and experience gained from the Start Sailing 2 course.
Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who wish to continue developing their sailing skills in dinghies.
Course Outcome
You will gain your Better Sailing completion certificate.
We recognise that some of our course participants are completing the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and may be using sailing and/or club membership to complete one or more sections of The Award. To learn more, click here.
