Welcome to the 2020 edition of the Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club’s Youth Squad.

Over the coming weeks, you will work with coaches and reflect on feedback to further develop your sailing and keelboating skillset. We will identify the strengths of each squad member and construct teams that allow you to develop your role on the boat.

You will become responsible for your own training outcomes and for generating goals for you and your team to work towards. We will provide opportunities to race against other local sailors and teams from the Sydney-based squads.

Ideally, you will depart the Program in a strong position to go forward with your team, or to create a new team, to contest the Newcastle Youth League and our Member’s Match Racing Tournaments later in the year.

Participants must be mindful that each Squad Member learns in a different way, and at a different pace. Our intention is to provide each participant with access to coach feedback and opportunities to demonstrate their keelboat sailing ability in roles determined by the Squad Coordinator(s).
