OutThere Sailing - School Holiday 3-day Experience
Details
Course information
@ Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club
Our OutThere Sailing school holiday experiences aim to introduce kids to sailing & water based activities in a fun & safe environment.
The kids will spend their days outdoors in the fresh air learning new skills & participating in challenging activities! They will learn to sail on our small inshore keelboats whilst learning to work as a team as part of a crew. Other water-based activities, skills & knowledge will be covered including introductory powerboating. We will investigate inshore navigation, basic passage planning, safe anchoring and general seamanship skills.
Not only that, the kids will get to see Newcastle from a completely different angle and weather permitting may have the opportunity to check out the Stockton foreshore and the Hunter River.
A big part of the OutThere Sailing program is the social element of simply enjoying time spent with peers and doing some thing fun. OutThere Sailing will keep friends together and keep you learning together. So a person who has sailed before can sail together with a mate who might be completely new to the activity!
Sailing activities will be on our fleet of six Force 24 small inshore keelboats which are suitable for one instructor and up to 4 students.
A great camp for kids aged 11-17 years.
Kids bring their own lunch & snacks and active gear for sailing with enclosed shoes (don’t forget your hat & suncream!). We provide life jackets and all sailing and safety equipment.
