Women's Spinnaker course - SATURDAY
We are pleased to welcome participants to our Women’s 'Learn to Spinnaker' course (Saturday mornings) for Octoebr 2023.
This course will provide an extension to your current sailing skills, and we recommend you have past sailing experience or have completed at least two women's 4-week sailing courses.
Participants will work through how to hoist a spinnaker and set using either a spinnaker pole or by “floating”. You will learn how to correctly trim the spinnaker to get maximum benefit from the extra sail area on various angles of wind including pole position & height. Spinnaker trim when gybing and how to gybe the pole will be covered and then you will learn how to drop the kite quickly & efficiently so it’s ready to go back up again without any tangles!
Learn or brush up your skills for our SheSAILS@NCYC Open Regatta in November, our SheSAILS@NCYC Development Regatta in March, or the Open League in Elliott 6s.
The course will include four sessions, conducted on consecutive Sunday dates as listed, with our Bubbles & Nibbles celebrations held at the conclusion of the final session.
All session times are 9:00am to 11:30am
Training will be conducted on the Club's fleet of Force 24 keelboats sailed inshore on the waters of Newcastle Harbour. The course may also include some shore based theory components if it is unsafe or unsuitable to go on-water.
The registration fee for this Saturday course is $245.
The return participant or member discount is not available for this spinnaker course.
From these courses you can choose to become involved with our She Sails@NCYC regattas and social events - check out our website for more details
