Looking to take your sailing skills to the next level? Look no further than the Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club's Youth Keelboat Squad!

Our training program is designed for young sailors aged 13-21 who already have some experience sailing at a club level. Over the course of five months, from April to October, participants will work with experienced coaches to refine their sailing skills both on and off the water. The program is also suitable for participants of the OutThere Youth Sailing Program who are looking to continue their sailing development.

On-water sessions will focus on advanced keelboat handling skills, including the use of symmetrical spinnakers, fleet race training and regatta experience, and developing a deeper understanding of the Racing Rules of Sailing. Participants will also learn how to transition their dinghy sailing skills to a keelboat environment and work on improving their teamwork dynamics.

Off the water, participants will take part in the Hunter Academy of Sport's theory component, which will complement the Youth Keelboat Squad curriculum and help them develop a deeper understanding of sailing strategy and tactics.Don't miss out on this opportunity to take your sailing skills to the next level! Participants will have the opportunity to represent Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club at intra and inter club events.
