Course information
The sail training activities offered at the Bay Sailing Centre are conducted by the fully qualified staff of the NCYC Sailing Academy.
We are pleased to welcome participants to our Better Sailing program for the October 2022 school holidays. This course will include 4 sessions, conducted over consecutive days in the NSW school holidays, with a certificate presentation held at the conclusion of the final session.
All session times are 9:00am to 2:00pm, with a short lunch break mid-day.
Training will be conducted in the Club's fleet of O'Pen Skiff dinghies. Suitable for sailors 12 to 15years.
The NCYC Sailing Academy abides by the Australian Sailing instructor/student ratios, hence places are strictly limited. To avoid disapointment, we recommend registering early.
The registration fee for this course is $295.
Member Discounts
Current financial NCYC members are offered a discount on training courses for their children or grandchildren - 10% for General Members and 5% for Crew Members.
NSW Active Kids Vouchers are accepted.
The NCYC Academy is proud to be an Active Kids Provider. If you would like to use an Active Kids voucher, please submit the 16-digit voucher number during registration.
Please also use the discount code ACTIVEKIDS when you get to the payment section so the $100 is deducted from your course fee.

Course Overview
This course focuses on sailing in stronger winds and introducing extra equipment like spinnaker and trapeze to leverage the full boat potential on the water.
Course Prerequisites
Water confident, and you should have the skills, knowledge and experience gained from the Start Sailing 2 course.
Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who wish to continue developing their sailing skills in dinghies.
Course Outcome
You will gain your Better Sailing completion certificate.
We recognise that some of our course participants are completing the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and may be using sailing and/or club membership to complete one or more sections of The Award. To learn more, click here.
