NCYC COURSE SPECIFIC INFORMATION

Once you have successfully completed this course, you can take your certificate to RMS in Newcastle to obtain your General Boat Licence (licence fees will apply).

Your registration in this course includes the Australian Sailing Powerboat Student Pack (Textbook & logbook).

There is some pre-reading and study required prior to the course commencement.  Please contact the Sailing office to arrange to collect your powerboat pack or we will post it to you.

Course Overview
This one-day course is designed to improve your boat handling skills, especially in confined areas such as marinas and in swell and waves. You will learn more about engines and types of crafts and practise navigation techniques on a passage. In some instances, you can take your completion certificate to your State Maritime Regulator and gain the State Boat License. 

Course Prerequisites

Water confident. The skills and knowledge gained in Start Powerboating or equivalent power boating experience.

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who wish to further develop their powerboat driving skills. This course is also a prerequisite for becoming a Dinghy and/or Windsurfing Instructor.

Course Outcome

You will gain your Powerboat Handling completion certificate.
