Northern Suburbs Schools Competition @ Warringah Aquatic Centre

The Northern Suburbs Schools Water Polo Secondary competition is one of the longest running schools’ competitions held in NSW, and has hosted many Australian Representatives and a few Olympians too… It’s where they started.

Whilst times have changed and players are starting to play at a younger age, the Schools Competition remains an important part of their player development, playing with their school mates, leading, and mentoring their peers. An important life skill.

This year the Schools competition will commence in Term 2, 2025:-

2025 NORTHERN SURBURS SCHOOLS WATER POLO
Opens Years 10, 11 & 12 Friday's 2-May to 20-Jun (8 wks) Entries Open - now Entries Close 2 April 2025
Inters Years 8 & 9 Monday's 5-May to  25-Aug (12 wks) Entries Open - now Entries Close 5th April 2025
Juniors Year 7 Friday's  1-Aug to  19-Sep (8 wks) Entries Open - now Entries Close 1 July 2025

In the past we have had schools entering from Riverview, Forest High, Bally Boys, Stella Maris, St Lukes, Pymble, Redlands, Pittwater House, and St Andrews Cathedral School… If you know of any schools, private, public, boys & girls that may wish to join, please pass on my details, or forward me their details, so we can open communications about the competition.

Alternatively, I am also opening individual registrations and looking at forming composite/grouped school teams who don't have enough players to form a team or who don't offer water polo as a sport... ie Players from Shore, Ravo, Monte etc would not be eligible to enter as an Individual registration as those schools offer water polo and play in another competition.  However if Shore, Ravo or Monte want to enter this competition as a School entry, they are more than welcome.  We will not be engaging Club Representative teams; it will be school, and participation focused. No NAGP atheletes unless they are affiliated with a school team, not a composite team.

If your school is not entering a team, however you would like to play, please register no later than 2nd April 2025 .

If anyone has further questions, queries, or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out… I am working towards getting the competition back up to where it was pre covid. Let’s all work together to make that happen😊

Proposed Competition Structure

OPENS - Years 10, 11 & 12 - will commence on Friday 2nd May and finish on Friday 20th June 2025 (8 weeks) - Teams Entries are limited to 4 Girls teams and 4 Boys teams.

This will be our Premier Schools Competition

  • Pool set up will be 1 field of play... Similar to a standard full size water polo pool...
  • Games will be scheduled 7:00pm, 7:30pm, 8:00pm & 8:30pm.
  • Each team will play each other twice in the round games.  Week 7 will be semi finals 1 v 4 and 2 v 3.  Winners will progress to the Gold Medal match and loser will play for the Bronze.

  • The competition structure will be confirmed after close of the team entries.  If we receive less than 12 team entries we will reassess the duration of the competition.

Dates are subject to change

As you can appreciate the running of these competitions and programs takes a lot of work and we have many people involved behind the scenes and on pool deck.

Whilst i have done everything in my power to keep all the fees down, unfortunately the team fees have been increased, as over the past few seasons, we have not met our target entries, which subsequently has meant, The Water Polo School has been subsiding the running costs of the competition, which we can no longer provide.  In addition, we have had big increases in insurance, staffing and pool hire and for this season, we are introducing an annual membership joining fee of $25 per player (+ processing fees we are charged) to assist with covering our insurance component of the fee, which has previously been absorbed in the competitions and program fees.

This once a year fee, will be due and payable at the time of renewing your membership as a "RETURNING MEMBER" or for those signing up as a "NEW MEMBER".  Schools who register their players, will be invoiced this $25 levy per player separately.  On registering your team to enter the competition an invoice will be generated.  Please note, if players are already register with "The Water Polo School" from competitions and programs in Term 4, 2024 they will not be required to pay this fee when joining their school team.  Click on the link below to RENEW membership or register as a NEW member:

Depending on the number of team entries, will determine the actual number of rounds for each competition.

It is my preference for Year 7 boys and girls not to play up in the Year 8/9 competition… however, exemptions requests may be considered for those who play Metro.  Please email to nbwaterpoloa@gmail.com
