Development Pathways
Coaches and experienced paddlers are always happy to support your development as a paddler. As a beginner you may wonder how long it will take to be able to paddle effectively and the answer is ‘training’! The more you practice, the more you will improve.
The basic session on Saturdays is the best starting point, as outlined above. Attendance at several of these when starting out will help you understand how it all works, and for you to get to know your fellow club members.
We understand that not all paddlers wish to be competitive and prefer to participate for the fitness and social benefits. No paddler is obliged to enter regattas.
During any training session you are not expected to keep paddling if you are experiencing any kind of difficulty including fatigue. Navmat does not want paddlers to get injured during training. You will not be pressured to paddle if you are unable to continue.
