Social Events and Fund Raising

While NAVMAT loves to train and be competitive, we are also a social and an inclusive club.  We support the community where we can and offer ongoing support to our members when not training.  Keeping in touch with members outside of a boat is always a worthy cause.  We have a dedicated social events and fundraising officer who coordinates these activities.

Our regular social event is our coffee run on Saturdays where we get to chat, celebrate birthdays and hear messages that concern the club and dragon boating in general. We also offer sincere thanks to members who bring along some morning tea to share - home baked or otherwise!

Our other events include:

• Monthly dinner - every third Thursday of each month we catchup for a social gathering and some yummy food.  The places vary but the conversation and laughter is always welcome.

• Golden Awards Night (GAN) – an annual event at which coaches present awards for performance and key achievements, as well as humorous awards for incidents that may have happened during the year – all in good fun. It’s normally a dinner at varing venues and may also include games and activities.

• Christmas Party – an opportunity to celebrate the end of the calendar year even though it’s the middle of racing season. Its a chance to dress up, enjoy some food and celebrate the year that was.  The Secret Santa activity is a highlight and a lot of fun. 

• Bunnings BBQs – our only opportunity for fundraising which builds our bank balance and is fun. We have multiple days per year and ask people to donate 2-3 hours of their time to support their club.  Funding which supports us attending interstate or international events.
