It’s official we are off to Hervey Bay for the Nacra Australia Open Championship 2022!

4/12/21 - Despite the overwhelming support and registrations, the Nacra Association has conceded that the "42nd Nacra Nationals" will not be a truly national event if other states are unable to make it to the event. We have therefore agreed to re-name the event the “Nacra Australia Championship 2022”. The event will be run in the same format as a nationals and as per the current Notice of Race.

This was a tough decision as we already have several crews from interstate that have committed to crossing the border and meeting the requirements to come to Queensland.  We appreciate this has been a challenging year for everyone which is why we think it’s important to go ahead despite this set back. Thank you to all the crews that have already registered. 38 boats to date and we’re confident we’ll reach 50 boats once we get to Hervey Bay.

It gives us great pleasure to announce the Nacra Australia Championship 2022 are to be held at Hervey bay sailing club from the 30th of December 2021 to the 5th January 2022. Hervey Bay is a relaxed seaside town with heaps of accommodation ranging from caravan parks to 5-star resorts all within walking distance to the club. Hervey Bay has had a long history with the Nacra class. Hosting many national and state titles over the years. It also hosted the inaugural 5.8 world titles in 1991 and just hosted the Queensland state titles which were a great success. The championships are open to all class legal Nacra catamarans and are a great way to meet fellow sailors and learn so much as well. We are expecting well over 50 boats to attend the event.

We hope to see as many of you there as possible.
