COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Club Update
Published Mon 16 Mar 2020
Dear Athlete / Support crew / volunteer,
As you know we are currently in the midst of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic “lockdown”.
With Newstead Athletics Club 2020 cross country season literally just around the corner….. and the situation changing daily, we would like to update you on our current situation.
We are still going ahead with the 2020 season.
With the health and wellbeing of all of us the top priority, we have the following practices, considerations for athletes to be aware of.
- Unfortunately, our School Series competition is CANCELLED for 2020. We are hoping to still hold our Northern All Schools in June but will wait until closer to the date to decide.
At our events, please consider others. We have older more vulnerable athletes in our club, if you are showing any cold flu like symptoms, please do not attend.
- If you are considered to be in an at-risk category, please consider staying away until the risk has passed.
- Please practice self-distancing for at least 1 metre
- Hand sanitizer will be provided at the registration desk (if it is available) please use it before and after handling anything.
- Please register online if possible. Don’t panic if you can’t, as we did late last year, volunteers on the desk can still write your name on the registration sheet on your behalf.
- Our volunteers will wear gloves to handle money and other items
- Our free shared fruit platter will be scrapped for the foreseeable future.
- Our tea and coffee is still free, but we will have a dedicated person making these for you (taking necessary precautions)
- Afternoon tea should be restricted to items that will not allow cross touch contamination.
The health and wellbeing of all of us is paramount. Please stay safe.
