Water Polo Victoria Competition
Water Polo Victoria runs two competition seasons each year.
WPV State Championships
The WPV State Championships is the premier competition, and has approximately 15 competition rounds. It is typically run from July until November, with finals held in the first week of December. A break is generally held over the school holidays in September, which typically aligns with the University mid-semester break, and University Nationals. This competition aligns generally with the University's Semester 2 calander, with the last rounds generally held during exam period, and finals held after exams conclude in the the University's summer break.
WPV Winter Competition
The WPV Winter Competition is a shorter, more social competition which is run for approximately 2 months (8 or 9 rounds) during May/June/July each year. This competition generally aligns with the University's semester 1 calander, with the last rounds generally held during exam period.

University Nationals
The University of Melbourne sends a men's and women's team to compete at University Nationals each year. The University has a proud Water Polo history, and both the Women's and Men's teams have competed in the Division 1 Championships in recent years.
Selection trials are held around the end of the mid year break, and the commencement of Semester 2 each year.
