Every year in July Coochiemudlo Island comes alive in commemoration of the landing of Matthew Flinders there in 1799. Virtually the whole island turn out in period costume and there is a reenactment of the landing with Matthew Flinders himself arriving by longboat. There is a parade, market and food stalls galore on Sunday 18th, We will arrive on Saturday and share sundowners ashore as usual before retiring to our boats in the quiet anchorage near the ferry terminal in preparation for Sunday's festivities.
