Don't miss this great opportunity for some social interaction with fellow club members as we venture out towards Cape Moreton / Flinders Reef area to watch the humpbacks at play. There's no guarantees of course but every time Nicky C has gone searching for whales in this area we have not been disappointed. We've generally seen at least a dozen or so whales at play and while we have been passively drifting they have been diving around the boat and popping up for some human-watching only a few metres away. Its a mesmerising experience and not to be missed.

Depart on Saturday morning at leisure. An early departure will give more time for whale-watching but this is cruising, not racing, so there's no time pressure. There will be time for whale-watching before and after lunch. There are several day-use public moorings around Flinders Reef, just a mile north of Cape Moreton if you'd like to do some snorkelling.

We may anchor or raft-up for lunch at Yellow Patch on the northern coast of Moreton Island, not too far west of Cape Moreton. There's a great walk up to the lighthouse from this point if this takes your fancy.

Our anchorage for the evening will be determined by the weather. If conditions permit, we can stay at Yellow Patch (Northern Moreton Island) but as an overnight anchorage it can be a bit rolly in anything but the mildest conditions so it is quite possible we will prefer to head further into the bay to Bulwer, Tangalooma, Lucinda Bay or Sandhills depending on conditions. There will be the usual sundowners at the anchorage. BYO drinks and a plate of nibbles to share.

This will be a great cruise to involve the whole family or invite some friends along. There will be nothing too strenuous and it should be great fun.
