Matthew Flinders Day - Coochiemudlo Island
Sunday 17th July

Event information

This event has passed.

Every year in July Coochiemudlo Island comes alive in commemoration of the landing of Matthew Flinders there in 1799. Virtually the whole island turn out in period costume and there is a reenactment of the landing with Matthew Flinders himself arriving by longboat. There is a parade, market and food stalls galore on Sunday 17th, Some of us will arrive on Saturday and share sundowners ashore, others will come down for the day on Sunday to the quiet anchorage near the ferry terminal. This is a great cruise for those members 'between boats' to come over to Coochimudlo on the ferry and join in with the festivities.
