Happy Mother’s Day to all of our Hockey Mums, Nanas and Grandmothers out there who do so much to make our sport what it is and without you we wouldn’t be able to have the fun we do playing hockey.

We have kicked off our 2022 season at our new home of hockey at Glen Willow. What a magnificent field it is to play on and the feedback that we received from all players was awesome.

Junior Hockey

Juniors kicked it all off on Friday night with a fantastic roll up of new and returning players. It was fantastic to see that our juniors have been working in the off season to hone their skills as they were straight back on the field in what was a great display of skill level from our infants kids right through to our high schoolers.

Our infants and primary kids started at 4:30 with a quick refresher on their skills before breaking into a game where the skills definitely came out to shine.

To continue improving our high school players we are going to start training for any of our high school kids on Thursday nights for roughly an hour at Glen Willow hitting off at 5:30pm.

Seniors

We started our 2022 senior hockey competition with a muster day with a good roll up with some new and returning faces present.

We were able to split into two teams and play all quarters although each quarter seemed more like a half of hockey than a quarter.

We welcomed some of our older junior players who have taken the step to join us in the seniors this year and they definitely showed us the skills that the juniors within our association have with them often showing up our experienced seniors.

It was great to see our players using skills that they have been unable to use previously with the amazing difference in the playing surface.

A special thanks must go to Steve and Maree Barnes for cooking the BBQ and having it all ready to go for us when we finished.

We will work through this week to put teams together with the intention to equally maximise our teams in both juniors and seniors to provide the best competitions that we can.

We invite anyone interested to come along and have a look at our new home. Bring your brothers, sisters, friends, Mum and Dad or even your neighbours along as our come and try will be running for a couple more weeks.
