If you’re not aware the Western Premier League hold an annual “Western PL Gala Weekend” which is held in Bathurst, this year the event is on Saturday 5th / Sunday 6th March. The event hosts top Sydney based club teams and the Western Premier League teams.
We would like to continue to grow this event and would like to give more athletes from the Western area a chance to participate. We would like to invite the three associations Dubbo, Cowra and Mudgee that do not have a PL team the opportunity to join together to form a team to participate in the event giving their talented young/mature athletes a chance to play against some of the best in NSW. It is a fun weekend where you meet others watch quality hockey on Saturday and play against the best we have around, Sunday. This is a great opportunity for athletes from all over the Western area who might not have the opportunities to play at this level to come together to play good quality hockey and to challenge themselves as hockey players.

The Weekend’s schedule generally runs like this:
Saturday 5th March – We invite a Sydney based club team to play a Western PL “All Stars” team in men’s and Women’s, this is the showcase of the event with top NSW hockey players from the City and Country going head to head to give our locals top quality hockey to watch. This year we will have 2 x Sydney based teams an All Stars team and a All Stars development team playing against each other, which is fantastic news for all. The times of these games will be out soon.
Sunday 6th March – Sunday is the Gala day where we get all the Premier league teams, Sydney based teams and the WRAS squad together to play short games against each other. This is a great way for the teams to try new things, new structures and players in a “non-competitive” environment. This event is great fun and a good way of bringing clubs together on and off the pitch. The new Western team will participate on this day.
