  • Further updates to follow

The age categories offered are Premiers and Seniors.  Due to the limited space for racing on the water at Docklands, two crews will compete in each 200-metre heat.  Depending upon the number of entries, the current plan is for each crew to stay on the water and race over two rounds.  Times are combined to allocate a team into a number of Finals. Crews with similar times will race against each other in these Finals.  If time is limited, we will have one round, followed by a Final.

The plan for these age categories is as follows:

  • Premiers – will race as a separate category
  • Seniors – races will include Senior A, B and C.  This ensures all crews will get a race even if there is only one crew in an age group.

Please note: Final placings for the Seniors category will be decided on the time of each crew in their Final, with the Handicap applied.  This means that the overall winners and placegetters may come from any of the Finals.

The current handicap times are Senior A = 1.00, Senior B = 0.98, Senior C = 0.92.

The final time for each crew is multiplied by the relevant figure, e.g. if a Senior B crew finishes their race in the final in 60 secs, their handicapped time for final placings will be 58.8secs, i.e. 60  secs x .98 = 58.8 secs.

Age groups must follow DBV bylaws which state:

All age groups follow the AusDBF Competition Rules and Regulations 9.2 outlined in Items 2.2.5, 2.2.6 and 2.2.7, View rules here.  DBV bylaws state that the following are permitted:

  • a maximum of one (1) adult paddler (Small Boat) and two (2) adult paddlers (Standard Boat) who are ‘out of age’ ie. Do not comply with AusDBF provisions 2.2.5 to 2.2.7.
  • drummers must be a minimum of 12 years of age at the time of the regatta
  • a maximum of four (4) junior-aged competitors in a Small Boat and a maximum of eight (8) junior-aged competitors in a Standard Boat, noting the proviso at item 2.2.4 relating to clubs and their coaches assessing the capability of juniors to compete in these boats etc
