About Our Programs
At MUBC we do things a little differently - we recognise the distinctive needs between social and competitive play and our programs are tailored accordingly.
Social Play
For those who just want to play for fun, or who have missed out on selection to the Club Athlete Support Scheme (see below), we have 5 weekly pass available during the semester starting in week 2:
- Tuesday 2:30pm - 5:00pm,
- Thursday 2:30pm - 5:00pm,
- Saturday 1:00pm - 3:30pm,
- Sunday AM 11:00am - 1:00pm, and
- Sunday PM 1:00pm - 3:00pm
Each pass will have 10 sessions during the semester.
We also run a limited number of casual sessions during mid-semester, winter, and summer breaks
All sessions are held at the Nona Lee Sports Centre (Building 103).
As badminton is one of the more popular sports at the University of Melbourne, space is limited and registration prior to the sessions are essential. For session details and registration, please see our "Events" page.
Competitive Play - Club Athlete Support Scheme
Competitive players, or players seeking to represent the University and the Club, may be eligible to receive support under the Club Athlete Support Scheme (CASS).
CASS training sessions are held on Saturdays at the Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre (MSAC) from 2 - 6pm, and Sundays at Melbourne University Sports Centre from 11am - 12:30pm.
There are numerous other benefits associated with being a member of the CASS program.
In order to qualify into CASS you must succeed in tryouts which take place at the start of each semester - details for Semester 1, 2023 will be made available at the CASS Policy page once finalised.
