“This course introduces participants to dinghy sailing and its fundamental skills. They will learn some of the terminology, practice launching and returning to shore, sailing a course and capsize recovery. The program is structured to allow the participants to follow a pathway of learning. The actual daily activities will be largely governed by the daily weather forecasts. It should be noted that the course is over six consecutive Saturday mornings from 11.00am till 1.00pm. The course will proceed rain hail or shine.”

What to bring; Sunscreen, life jacket if you have one or borrow from the club, wetsuit or swimmers, footwear, towel and change of clothes. The Start Sailing Right online text book that you will receive with your registration notification is a great way to learn and understand the introductory basics of sailing
Sailing dinghy's are provided by the club as part of the registration fee.

Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a dinghy. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.
Course Outcome
You will gain your Start Sailing 1 And Start Sailing 2 completion certificate.
We recognise that some of our course participants are completing the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and may be using sailing and/or club membership to complete one or more sections of The Award. To learn more, click here.
