Where to meet
On the first day of the course please meet your instructors on the waterfront side of the Mornington Yacht Club (near the cranes), 10 minutes prior to the beginning of your lesson.
What to bring
Compulsory
- Hat
- Shoes that can be worn in the water. Ie Sneakers or reef shoes
- Sunscreen
- Shorts and sleeved shirt (thermal tops are good)
- If it is cold, fleece jumper or multiple thermals (that can get wet)
- Water (drink bottle)
Recommended
- Sunglasses
- Bathers
- Waterproof “spray jacket”
- Towel
- Plastic bag for wet shoes and clothes
- Pen and paper to take notes
- Wetsuit if you have available
- Please do not bring any valuables or wear jewellery that can be lost in sand or water

Course Overview
This course equips participants with boat rigging knowledge and sailing skills to sail a dinghy on their own.
Course Prerequisites
Water confident, and the skills and knowledge gained in Start Sailing 1.
Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who have completed Start Sailing 1 and are wanting to learn and continue to develop their fundamental sailing skills.
Course Outcome
You will gain your Start Sailing 2 completion certificate.
We recognise that some of our course participants are completing the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and may be using sailing and/or club membership to complete one or more sections of The Award. To learn more, click here.
