To Maccabi Basketball friends and family,
I’d first like to extend my warm wishes to everyone in our community as the conflict in Israel remains ongoing. It’s an extremely challenging time for those with friends, family and relatives who have been affected, and on behalf of the Club I’d like to send my well wishes to everyone.
Despite the distress the conflict in Israel has caused across our community, I’m proud of the way our members have galvanised together to continue to not only play but excel on the court. This was demonstrated most recently with an action packed grand final weekend at both EBL and CSBA competitions. 6 junior teams reached their grand finals in EBL comps, with the U10 Hawks, U12 Jazz and U12 76ers all crowned champions after great seasons. Unfortunately, extreme heat complicated the CSBA finals series with many games left unplayed, although I’d like to congratulate the U16 Kings and U18 Rockets who were named champions by way of finishing 1st on the ladder in their competitions.
Earlier this month, the Committee and I had the pleasure of being joined by over 200 community members at our annual awards night at Bondi Pavilion! It was great to welcome everyone and provide an update on the club’s current position, in addition to handing out trophies to our junior award winners. I’d like to thank CSG for being present on the night to ensure all members were safe, in addition to the Throwback Store who provided over $700 worth of prizes for 4 lucky raffle winners!
With school holidays upon us, I’d like to give mention to the club’s upcoming school holiday camps on December 19, 20, 21 and January 9, 10, 11 from 9am-2pm daily. Our camps are designed to enhance your children’s fundamental basketball skills for beginners and seasoned players, tailoring the sessions to individual skill levels by our experienced coaching team. Days are filled with friendly competitions and basketball related games, open to all junior age groups. You can reserve your spot now for $90/day via https://www.revolutionise.com.au/mnswbasketball/events/212599/
For our older members looking to get on the court in a more social setting, the Maccabi Basketball Social Comp will be running again in 2024, with the first edition beginning on February 1. Our Social Comp aims to engage Jewish youth in the 18-40 age bracket in a social yet competitive environment on the basketball court. The competition will run on Thursdays at Waverley College. For any enquiries, please reach out to Matt Bozic the competition coordinator at matt@maccabibasketballnsw.com
Finally, after another amazing year of Maccabi Basketball growth, it’d be remiss of me not to thank the backbone of the club, our major sponsors. The following 5 sponsors have signed on with the club for a further 2 years, committing to supporting Maccabi Basketball and all our members. A big thank you to Century 21 – Feller & Taylor, Chargrill Charlie’s, Haben Property Fund, Learn & Laugh and Supa Centa Moore Park for their generous contributions.
Wishing you all the best over the holiday period!
Kind Regards,
Brad Rosen – Maccabi Basketball NSW President
