About Mittagong Hockey Club
The following came from Geoff Goodfellow 09 March 2016.
Hi all,
As you probably know the local hockey association was formed in 1933, but the game was played around here before that, probably quite informally.
As for Mittagong, things really began in 1961 when Pat Maguire, placed an advertisement in the local paper, inviting anyone interested in forming a hockey team at Mittagong to contact him. Bob Todd answered the advertisement and together they rustled up a team. During the next 20 years Mittagong was to win nine first grade premierships and by 1982 there were 10 senior men's teams in Mittagong playing for three clubs - Mittagong, Mittagong Sports and Veterans. The rest is history.
Whilst 1961 is probably the time we should accept as the formation of the Mittagong Club, there was a Mittagong team well before that, but they did not create much impact and the game died.
Hope all that helps, Geoff.

About 2nd Turf Opening
From Glenn Fleming SHHI President Sunday 12 July 2020.
This afternoon was the official opening of the brand-new hybrid turf at our Welby Hockey Complex. Although the weather was freezing cold, the rain held off. It was an opportunity to thank the Wingecarribee Shire Council, Local Member and our Grant Funders to make this field possible.
It was also a very special occasion to thank and acknowledge our 4 Life Members of the Turf Committee. David Mackay, Steve Bedson, Sandra Sharpe and our very own Glen Isedale. These 4 members, have worked tirelessly and have dedicated countless hours over 15 years behind the scenes to make this dream a reality.
It was for this very reason, that the Executive Committee on behalf of the entire hockey community wanted to acknowledge and thank these 4 Life members.
So this afternoon we officially named:
Field 1 - Bedson Isedale Field
Field 2 - Mackay Sharpe Field
A wonderful occasion and one to remember.
Glen (or Spike, as most of us know you as) our club is not only very proud of you, but we are honoured that your one of us and a Life member and a huge part of our club.
Congrats mate,
Flemo.
