Age Groups

Senior A (Masters) must attain the minimum age of 40 by 31 December 2024

Senior B (Grand Masters) must attain the minimum age of 50 by 31st December 2024

Senior C (Great Grand Dragons) must attain the minimum ago of 60 by 31st December 2024.

SENIOR A (Masters) 40+ Years:

Event 1 - 10’s Crews 200 metres (Categories - Open, Mixed, Women)

Event 2 - 20’s Crews 200 metres (Categories - Open, Mixed, Women)

SENIOR B (Grand Masters) 50+ Years:

Event 3 - 10’s Crews 200 metres (Categories - Open, Mixed, Women)

SENIOR C (Great Grand Dragons) 60+ Years:

Event 4 - 10’s Crews 200 metres (Categories - Open, Mixed, Women)

BREAST CANCER SURVIVOR 40+:

Event 5 - 10’s Crews 200 metres

Event 6  20’s Crews 200 metres

More Information

All races will be conducted over 200 metres

20's teams will consist of a minumum of 18 people (16 paddlers, 1 drummer, 1 sweep) and a maximum of 26 people (20 paddlers, 1 drummer, 1 sweep and 4 reserve paddlers)

10's teams will consist of a minimum of 12 people (10 paddlers, 1 drummer, 1 sweep) and a maximum of 14 people (10 paddlers, 1 drummer, 1 sweep and 2 reserve paddlers)

Women's teams - drummer and the sweep must be female- drummer can be of any age (over 12 years) but the sweep must be in the correct age group

Mixed teams - a crew must contain a maximum of 5 of either gender for a 10's team and a maximum of 10 of either gender for a 20's team.

Open teams - may be any combination of men and women

The rules of competition will follow the International Dragon Boat Federation racing regulations with minor amendments for local conditions. The final rules and regulation will be provided in the Sports Program or will be available on the Dragon Boat SA website.

PFD must be worn by all participants and there will be some available on the day.

The event fee is applicable to each event, there are 6 events in total.

Events are dependant on entries

Individuals who wish to particiapte may enter on an individual basis and every endeavour will be made to place them in a team. Individuals should contact the Dragon Boat organiser to discuss the particular requirements.

Information for sport levy and number of events entered

There are 6 events. There are a number of categories that can be raced in each event. If you are entered in 3 categories in one event, you only pay for one event.

The first event you enter is $25 - a woman can enter up to 3 categories (Open, Mixed, Women) in that event and the sports levy remains $25

The second event you enter is $10 - A woman can enter up to 3 categories (Open, Mixed, Women) in that event and the Sports Levy remains $10

A woman entering 6 categories in 2 events would pay the total of $25 + $10 = $35

Please note a Compulsory Games Registration Fee is levied by the Copper Coast Council ($60) and is in addition to the Dragon Boat Sport Levy above.
