Come & Try

Why Dragon Boating?

Have you heard about this sport but don't really know what it is? Is it like Quidditch? Are there real dragons involved? All fair questions.

Dragon boating is fun, fast, addictive, and great for overall fitness. It started in China thousands of years ago and is now one of the fastest-growing water sports in the world, including Australia.

Dragon boating is the ultimate team sport with a maximum of 22 people in a boat. We welcome all genders, ages, and backgrounds. Although we lack real dragons, we have loads of community sense, teamwork, and camaraderie.

Dragon boating is for...

10-17 year-olds (Juniors), 18-39 year-olds (Premiers), and 40+ year-olds (Seniors/Masters)

When can I try?

If you would like to try one of our sessions, we offer a 1-month FREE TRIAL so that you can jump in the boat and see if you like it - and, by default, us!

But don't take our work for it. Come and see for yourself. Every couple of months, we will be running Dragon Boat Introductory Sessions focussing on paddling basics and technique FOR FREE while you have a Dragon Pass.

But firstly...

Go to our Registration tab and away you go. It's easy.  A Dragon Pass lets you paddle with any club for 1 month FREE before deciding to join a club.

Here's what you'll get on the day:

  • Up to 1.5 hours of fun on the water (backdrop provided by the Mighty Murray). Yes, it is truely awesome!
  • Learn a new sport with instruction from qualified coaches.
  • Meet new people and you'll have a bench-buddy to help you out.
  • Fantastic selfies for your social media cred!
  • Coffee, cake and a chance to mingle with our awesome crew (no, still no dragons to be seen!).

Sounds awesome, what do I bring?

  • Activewear and closed-toe footwear that can get wet (yep, it is a water sport).
  • Water bottle, hat & sunscreen
  • A towel and change of clothes (just in case)
  • Loads of enthusiasm and willingness to learn and experience something new.

We provide the PFD (life jacket) and paddle for all sessions/training.

Team Training (Yep, we're out on the water all year round)

Mildura Dragons have two locations for regular training (Mildura and Robinvale)

  • Mildura Dragons
    • Mondays 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
    • Wednesdays 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
    • Saturdays 7.30 am - 9:30 am - we love a coffee after this session too (mic drop)
  • Robinvale
    • Wednesdays 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
    • Sundays 8:00 am - 9:30 am

Where are we located?

For the Come & Try sessions only, we will meet you down Etiwanda Ave, just opposite the Etiwanda Wetlands entrance, follow signs to Mildura Houseboats, 86 Etiwanda Ave Mildura (the Mildura Houseboats gate. If you see Baldwin Boats, you've gone too far) - and there's a shipping container at the end of that track, park near there. Then, we let the dragons out!!! (not really but that would be fun!)

So, what are you waiting for?

Get that Dragon Pass.
