Mildura Dragon Boat Club was established in 2010, born from the idea of local icon Tubby Ramsey who was compelled to start a dragon boating club in respect for Breast Cancer survivors as part of the Dragons Abreast Movement.
After six months of meetings and driving interest in the local area a boat was sourced just three weeks prior to the Masters Games which was being held here in our home town of Mildura.
10 years on, we have a new boat, new equipment and a storage container we can call home. We are increasing our members every year and have grown to be a safe community club for people from all walks of life and physical abilities.
We're a friendly bunch who enjoy the social aspect as much as the physical workout and we're always welcoming of new faces around the club. We compete in both Victoria and South Australia each year and all enjoy the excitement and good times associated with traveling and competitions. We have also enjoyed bringing home medals on numerous occaisons - not to brag!
With growing memberships and interest, we also have a crew in Robinvale (since 2021), which is just one hour's drive from Mildura. Robinvale launch from the Rowing Club near the Caravan Park twice a week (Wednesdays/Sundays). See our Training Sessions page for more info.
In early 2024, we were lucky enough to have a second boat for the Mildura crew. This will give us added opportunities to enjoy a mixture of social and/or race training sessions, which will be driven by demand. The club has also purchased a Concept 2 RowErg with a paddle adaptor to give paddlers the chance to improve their technique and train during off-water times. This will enable newbies to get a sense of proper technique prior to getting in the boat for the first time.
