First & second day of NS14 Nationals
The 2016-17 NS14 National Titles got away on Tuesday the 3rd with two races in a SSE breeze that built from 12 knots two 18 very quickly and with gusts in the low to mid 20's.
The fleet had 10 boats DNF and one DNS in the first race and in the second race 12 finished two DNF and the balance DNS.
Race one saw Under the Radar take the win well clear of Paddy Wack with TR6 in third.
Race two was again Under the Radar in first with TR6 second and Calafornia Times in third.
On day two the weather was much more frendly if a little light.
Heat 3 was sailed in a SSE 7-10 knot breeze that faded resulting in a shortned course at the windward the second time with Up Beat taking the win from TR6 showing good form in strond and light wind and in third Demons Run having a good run.
Heat 4 got away in what looked like a building SSE sea breeze of just over 10 knots but again as the race progressed the breeze died again requiring a shortening of the final beat to finish the race inside the time limit, this time the wind swung to NE for the last few minutes of the race.
TR6 again showed the way from Barnstormer with California Times in third.
After the first four races TR6 Mark Thorpe and Emma Rankin are on top with 8 points from Paddy Wack Bradley & Tahlia Clarke on 17 with California Times Chris Eddes and Rebecca Wiley on 22 just a point clear of Under the Radar Nick McElwee and Izzy Cameron.
More heats are due to be sailed tomorrow 5th of January.
