Mallacoota Mayhem Saturday 14th May!
Once again, Merimbula Water Dragons is holding an end of season, social event at Mallacoota. All paddlers are welcome to join us for a day of extended paddling, fun and laughter.
There are limited seats available, MWD Club members have until the 11th of April to secure their seat. We will then be inviting paddlers from other clubs in the southern region, Bairnsdale and ACT (those clubs who have attended previously) to attend. Registrations will close on Saturday 30th of April or before if sold out. Cost for the day is $45:00 per paddler. Non-Paddling partners are welcome to join us, a $10 fee for Morning Tea and Lunch will apply.
There is a dress code - You are either a Hippie or a Punk. Prizes will be given. You must be able to paddle and swim in your outfit?
In Victorian Waters, the wearing of a PFD is MANDATORY, Dragon Boat NSW also require Closed Toe shoes to be worn, Safety will not be compromised!
The weather can be quite cold at this time of year, so you will have to layer up, a dry bag will be in each boat for your use. Dress for all seasons! A warm rain proof jacket, sunglasses, sunscreen, hat, water bottle, hand warmers, a chair or mat to sit on at lunch time and personal medication are items you should bring with you. These items can be transported from Mallacoota to Karbeethong for you by one of our volunteers.
Morning Tea and Lunch will be (over)provided, with Gluten Free and vegetarian options available. Toilets are located close by.
Whilst this in a social event, Safety of all our Paddlers, Sweeps, Drummers, Volunteers and Guests is first and foremost. Weather plays a huge part in the success of the day, our Safety Officer will determine if conditions are suitable to proceed. If the long range weather forecast is not favourable the event may be cancelled. Rescheduling is not an option.
The travel time to Mallacoota from Merimbula is approx. 1.5 hrs. It is up to individuals when you arrive and when you go home. If you want accommodation you will need to book early. I suggest you get a group together to make a booking. Many paddlers arrive on Saturday morning and stay the night, some come down friday and enjoy the delights of Mallacoota.
After a full day of paddling, we will meet up at the Pub in the Main St where we have reserved a room, meal and drinks are ordered from the bar and are at your own expense. There will be an informal presentation for awards for the days activities.
Most importantly, bring a sense of fun and adventure! Any questions, just ask!
