Vale Pamela Tait (14/8/1939 – 21/11/2024)
Great sadness accompanies this notification of the passing of Pam Tait yesterday. Pam was an outstanding and inspiring member of the Melbourne Veterans Table Tennis Association at its inception and prior to that as a long-term member of the TTV Veterans Subcommittee. She worked tirelessly for TTV veterans. In particular she promoted and supported table tennis for women.
Pam was a member of the first ever Victorian Veterans Team to compete at the inaugural National Veterans Championships in Tasmania 1984. She participated in the Championships every ensuing year until COVID struck in 2020. She had a slow start at national competition level. According to Pam “I needed a good doubles partner to win a medal, so I practiced and practiced and practiced, while the baby watched from the pusher”. Pam retired with a haul of medals including 70+ Gold collected from teams and individual events at the Veterans Nationals. Pam also won Gold and Bronze Medals at World Veterans Championships.
Thank you for your contribution in inciting and sustaining our own passions for veterans table tennis.
