The following email is for MCYS Voting Members, of which your are one.

As per previous correspondence, the MCYS General Committee (MCYS-GC) has carefully considered our clubs future and, after observing the robust operations and administration of Mornington Yacht Club (MYC), we believe the coming together of MCYS and MYC is the best path forward for MCYS members.

We are pleased to announce that the MYC General Committee (MYC-GC) met this week and has expressed strong support for this move, welcoming the potential addition of our 80+ members. We are particularly encouraged by the opportunities for our members to participate in diverse activities such as Powerboat activities, Sailing and Race Management, Training and Development, Social Committee, Marketing, Foundation and Sailability.

Below are links to the agenda for the Special General Meeting & Proxy form for the planned Special General Meeting (SGM) on Sunday March 30 at the MYC Clubhouse to present and seek endorsement from the MCYS VOTING MEMBERS for this proposed course of action. Subject to a successful vote, MCYS intends to transfer most of its administrative operations, its foundation fund with AIS and assets to MYC.

As part of the proposed arrangement a dedicated MCYS chapter will be established as an integral part of MYC. We are excited by MYC's commitment to developing inclusive sailing & power programs, including twilight and Saturday racing, a collaborative winter series with MCYS, and a cruising program featuring overnight stays and navigational rallies. We believe this cruising program will resonate strongly with MYC trailer sailors, keel boats and cruising enthusiasts, enhancing the existing MCYS cruises.

It is also intended that the MCYS Chapter will have representation on various MYC subcommittees and one member on the MYC General Committee.

We, the General Committee of MCYS, believe the coming together of these two great clubs will provide our members with enhanced on-water opportunities and a vibrant clubhouse and club environment. We are confident that this integration will strengthen the boating community in our region and let’s face it, provide more fun to the members.

For the voting members of MCYS, we’ve linked:

·      the agenda for the Special General Meeting; and

·      a proxy form for your vote if you are unable to make this meeting in person

Again, I would like to thank Ian Bond and John Hall for the mountain of work completed by the MCYS MYC Merger Sub-committee to get us to this point.

Personally, it is an incredibly exciting time for our club to go to the next level and I am particularly looking forward to the next club season!

If you can please RSVP to me your attendance for Sunday 30th March at MYC or complete the proxy form and send to secretary@mcys.com.au by the required date, that would be appreciated.

Best regards,

Gareth Davies
