Come join the fun in the 1st official event of the MCYS 2024/25 Navigation Rally Series.
Navy Rallies are for Power Boats and Sail Yachts operating under power
When: SCHEDULED for Saturday 2 Nov 2024
CHANGED TO EARLIER START TIME based on weather forecast
Start times SAIL BOATS NOW START at 11:00 to compensate for slow speeds
POWER BOATS NOW START at 12:00 Start time (instead of 14:00)
Individually assigned start times to be emailed 1-11-2024
Where: Port Phillip (MCYS Race Area)

What’s a Nav Rally?
Read the Navy Rally Overview on the MCYS Website., including the updated Nav Rally Introduction first presented to club members in July 2024.
How it Works
See details in the Nav Rally Instructions in the download section of this event or on the Members website under Nav Rally pull down men.
Skippers will be assigned a Start Time and emailed a course route.gpx file with a personalized Predicted Log form with your Estimated time of arrival at each course waypoint. You navigate the course at your nominated constant speed, using your GPS chart plotter to guide you, and record the Actual time of arrival at each mark.
Schedule on the day
· On Water: Via mobile/SMS to event officer
also VHF Radio channel 72 – and monitoring Ch 16 throughout the cruise.
Go/No GO 09:00 Event Officer sends SMS to skippers with “go/no go” and any update
Prepare boats 12:00 - 13:00 pm
Sign in SMS Bill Wilson 0402 133 255, confirming Boatname, Skipper, # people on board
OR Contact Event Officer by VHF Radio Channel 72 – Martha Cove Event Control
Assemble 11:30 – 12:00 Power Boats assemble outside Martha Cove near Dromana Bay Mussel Farm
Start 11:00 AM – SAIL Boats start at your boat’s assigned start time
12:00 onwards – Power Boats start at your boat’s assigned start time
Boats are to pass the Start Mark at their assigned start time travelling at their planned constant speed towards the first mark
Navigate Course: CHANGED TO 116
Follow the course route and way points supplied previously, travelling at your fixed, nominated constant speed, according to the Nav Rally Instructions. Use of GPS chartplotter is expected.
Record the time of day that you pass each course mark in hh:mm:ss format in your Nav Rally Predicted Log Form.
Finish ~ 12:30 – 12:45
