About

Martha Cove Yacht Squadron

Martha Cove Yacht Squadron (MCYS) is the club for recreational and competitive Power Boating, Sailing, and Social events in the southern Port Phillip area.

Power, Sail, Social

We’re transforming what it means to belong to a community-based Yacht Squadron. Founded on the belief that any day on, in or near the water is a good day and the ideals of camaraderie, community and meaningful connections.

We welcome all with or without a boat; all types of boats big or small, and people who feel a connection to the water and the local community.

Our membership includes boat owners, non-boat owners, singles and families, people with a passion for recreational boating  racing, or cruising under power or sail. Or who just want to meet and socialize with like minded people in the area.

While many of our members live at Martha Cove and the surrounding areas, others are from further afield and visit our beautiful Mornington Peninsula whenever they can.

We seek to connect, inspire, and foster community in the Martha Cove area through our shared love of boating. We care about community. We are inclusive. We seek to build capabilities & inspire confidence. And have fun together both on and off the water!

World Class Safe Harbour

Martha Cove is a fabulous place to base a yacht squadron offering a safe fully protected harbour with great facilities, marinas, private berths, boatyard, fuel dock, dry stack boat storage, boat ramp, public recreation areas, waterfront housing and more.

We don’t have our own physical club facilities (yet) but meet regularly in various local venues in and around Martha Cove, Safety Beach and the peninsula for both social and on water activities.

Recent Club

We are a relatively new club started in 2019 by a group of like-minded people who saw a need for a club to serve yacht and power boat owners and residents in & around Martha Cove. The new club was enthusiastically embraced by many as Foundation Members and has since added many regular members.

As a relatively new organisation, our priority is to our members and building the infrastructure that will allow us to continue to grow in a sustainable way and to deliver the program of services and events that will advance our purpose.

Covid-19 significantly hampered the club’s activities through 2020, 2021, and into 2022 During this time we developed a Strategic Plan to guide our efforts and have maintained an active General Committee putting infrastructure in place and overseeing club operations.
