DISCOVER SAILING

Mounts Bay Sailing Club is and accredited Australian Sailing Discover Sailing Center, meaning we can offer Discover Sailing opportunites. 

Discover Sailing courses provide an opportunity for people of all backgrounds, ages and abilities to find out how fun, safe, accessible and affordable sailing can be.

Discover Sailing Courses offer a structured way to learn to sail for people new to the sport.

MBSC is partnering with the Bob Hawke College Fathering Project in providing an introduction to sailing experience for fathers and their children. 

Cost is $100 per boat and includes an introduction to sailing with qualified instructors, the use of MBSC Club Pacers and club facilities, life jackets and a BBQ lunch at the completeion of the day.

You will need to bring a water bottle, hat, sunscreen, clothes appropriate for getting wet (boardshorts, rashvest, collared/long sleeve shirt, wetsuit), spare chanhge of clothes and a towel. 

After your session

Following your Discover sailing opprtunity we encourage you to particpate in our regular training sesions designed for children ages 7+ and our Adult training opportunities within our Senior fleets. 

The MBSC Development program operates on Sunday mornings from early October through to April each year from 9am-noon, with rigging and preparation from 8.30am.

​This program includes introductory, intermediate and advanced sail training provided by the Dinghy Instructors, supported by our friendly group of volunteer assistants.

​Dinghy Instruction is provided for juniors and adults who are members of the club.

​Dinghy Racing will be every Sunday afternoon throughout the sailing season.

Sailing at MBSC is fun, exciting and accessible for people from all walks of life. Discover our playground on the swan,  see you at the bay.

Who should do this course?

This is the perfect 'taster' for anyone who wants to discover sailing for the first time. This is the perfect introduction and can be the ideal way for you to begin your sailing journey, without having to commit to a full training course.

Course Outcome

Following the course, you will receive a completion certificate.

 

We recognise that some of our course participants are completing the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and may be using sailing and/or club membership to complete one or more sections of The Award. To learn more, click here.
