Course information
This Australian Sailing accredited course is designed to provide a safe and enjoyable introduction to Dinghy sailing for complete beginners. The course includes an introduction to fundamental boat handling skills and essential safety knowledge. Our Instructors will make sure you have a great time on the water learning to sail.
Mounts Bay Sailing Club is situated in Crawley, near the University of WA, only 5 kms from the City and easily accessed from Stirling Hwy.
The course cost is $280 per sailor and includes 20 hours of tuition, full personal insurance cover issued by Australian Sailing, a ‘Start Sailing Pack’, and a lunch on the final day.
You will be required to sign up for an Australian Sailing number during the process. The Australian Sailing number means you are covered by insurance and is a way to keep your details and qualifications all in one place. Once you click 'register', scroll down to the last line that says "Having trouble registering with your AS Number, or don't yet have one? Click here ". This will take you to a pop up box where 4 options will come up. Click on "Don't have an AS Number?" Begin your registration here and follow the prompts. Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a dinghy. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.
Course Outcome
You will gain your Start Sailing 1 And Start Sailing 2 completion certificate.
We recognise that some of our course participants are completing the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and may be using sailing and/or club membership to complete one or more sections of The Award. To learn more, click here.
