The Otsuka Memorial Taikai commemorates the opening of the Kenshikan Dojo on the 15^th of July 1990. The existence of the dojo would not have been possible without the generous donation made by Mr. Kenshiro Otsuka and the Otsuka Family.

The purpose of The Otsuka Memorial Taikai is to foster and stregthen friendship and co-operation within our community.

The Iaido and Kendo Goodwill Taikais are 3-person team format events. Competitors will be placed within mixed teams based on the overall pool of registered players.

Event includes: 

• Kendo, Iaido, Jodo, and Naginata demonstrations
• Iaido Goodwill Team Taikai
  Eligibility: must know a minimum of 3 kata. 
  Format: 3-person team competition.
  The members of each team will be randomly selected so competitors in a team may not be from the same club.
  The teams and the draw will be announced on the day of the taikai.
• Junior Taikai
  Competiton for Juniors age under-16
  Competitors may be kyu and dan grade.
• Kendo Goodwill Team Taikai
  Eligibility:  ungraded kendoka (in full bogu, with the permission of their head sensei) up to and including 2nd Dan.
  Format: 3-person team format
  The members of each team will be randomly selected so competitors in a team may not be from the same club.
