The Mad Rabbit Crew is an inclusive social running team based in Melbourne. Just like the pacers in a running race, we're ahead of the pack and we're a bit crazy.
MRC has an extensive training schedule and we remain one of the most active clubs in Victoria. There is always something happening throughout the week and events are posted to our Strava group page, in addition to our social media platforms. The outline below is a weekly schedule of the existing club events.

Wednesday: Team quality track workout sessions are held at Doncaster / Box Hill Athletics Track & Mentone Athletics Club. The sessions are hosted by one or more of our coaches who will be the instructor for the entirety of the session. The team will meet at 6:30am every Wednesday morning. The session commences with the instructor taking the team through activation drills and dynamic warmup routine. The session will be explained in detail and then the team will get into similar pace groups. The workouts are put together by our head coach to further the development of all our athletes. Sessions vary from fartleks to intervals to allow each athlete to improve their speed, aerobic capacity, speed endurance and threshold.

Thursday: On Thursday night, after work, sometimes the runners gather at Zinc at Fed Square, for a run along Yarra River and the night view of Melbourne city. A distance of 10-15km is the usual course. This is a casual and relax run after 4 weekdays of work and pre-celebrate the coming Friday.

Friday: Each Friday, a group of 7 AM'ers gather at Elgar Park. Running on the soft turf following a pattern of "8" is always the theme. This is a relax run with any distances, and an option to extend out to Koonung Creek Trail and back if running on concrete road is preferred. Come along to Elgar Park for laps of the double oval followed by a customary cup of coffee post-run.

Saturday: We participate in parkruns across multiple locations across Victoria as a team. This is a great way to start the weekend and is perfect for the whole family. This is also a great platform for new runners to start their running journey.

Sunday: The Sunday Long Run otherwise referred to as the SLR is what we do best. This is the engine room of our club and what sets us apart. Every Sunday, we run a different route from the previous week to make things more exciting. The courses are carefully planned on Strava with multiple distances to choose from. Whether you are new to the distance running scene or a seasoned runner, there are route options suitable for all types of runners. The run is hosted by at least one of our accredited coaches and we typically have a team of pace setters to guide our members through the course. Brunch and coffee afterwards have become a tradition to allow our members to share their run experiences and to enjoy each other’s company. As a commitment to our community, this event is open and free to all types of members and non-members.
The team also participates in major running events in Australia and overseas. Our participation in these events is something to behold because of our large member base, We also make sure the after-party is over the top because fun is what we do best.
