Getting Started

Are you new to table tennis or considering joining the Mackay Table Tennis Association? We’re here to help you get off to a great start! Whether picking up a bat for the first time or returning to the sport after a break, this section has all the essential information you need to begin your journey with us.

Where to Play

There are several table tennis clubs throughout Queensland, but the Mackay Table Tennis Association (MTTA) stands out with its ten high-quality playing courts—the largest number outside of Brisbane. If you’re looking for a top-notch facility to enjoy the sport, you’ve found the right place.

What to Wear

Shirts/Tops: Please avoid any clothing with offensive writing or images. White shirts or tops, or those that are mostly white, aren’t suitable since the ball is white.
Shorts or Skirt: These are preferred for ease of movement.
Leggings/Track Pants: Perfect for cooler weather.
Sport Shoes and Socks: Shoes with a good grip, like squash shoes, are ideal for our playing surface.

What to Bring

Table Tennis Bat: Don’t worry if you don’t have one—club bats are available for you to use.
Water Bottle: Stay hydrated while you play. We have water coolers available to fill your bottle.
Towel and Sweatbands (optional): Useful for keeping cool during intense games.
Whether you're here for competitive play, socialising, or staying active, we're excited to welcome you to the Mackay Table Tennis community. Get ready to have fun, improve your skills, and make new friends!
