Making Soccer More Accessible for Young Players – Boys & Girls Welcome!

La Trobe University Soccer Club Bendigo is making a bold move to break down financial barriers in community soccer, slashing Under 18 registration fees from $350 to just $110.50. This fee covers all governing body and league costs per player, with the club funding the operating costs —training, referees, equipment, and coaching.

This game-changing initiative ensures that more young players, regardless of their financial situation, can take to the pitch, develop their skills, and be part of a thriving soccer community. The reduced fee applies to all age eligible U18 boys and U18 girls (playing senior women’s) reinforcing the club’s commitment to making soccer accessible for everyone.

“We know that cost can be a major barrier for families,” said Club President Zac Gilmour. “By lowering fees and covering additional costs, we’re opening the door for more kids to play, compete, and grow through soccer. We know this age demographic is a big ‘jumping off point’ for not only soccer but all sports, this initiative will either entice people to join the game or help keep them involved.”

La Trobe University Soccer Club has been a driving force in Bendigo’s soccer scene since 2019, fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and competitive environment. With a strong focus on player development, the club is dedicated to creating opportunities for players to reach their full potential both on and off the field.
