La Trobe University Fencing Club is a club based in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. We train twice a week at the La Trobe University Indoor Sports Centre.
Here at La Trobe University Fencing Club, our members train, take part in competitions and socialise. There are many great benefits to fencing, such as: building core and leg strength, finding lifelong friends and improving overall fitness. Fencing may be a niche sport, but the community is exceptionally tight-knit, friendly and welcoming regardless of fencing experience. The annual membership fee for LTUFeC covers equipment hire, though we ask that fencers looking to get serious with their fencing/become competitive begin to put together their own kits.
Fencing has three different weapons, each with their own unique aspects: foil, sabre and epee.
Our club particularly specialises in sabre and epee, with epee being fenced on Friday training sessions and our sabre development squad held once a week on Fridays. This year we have also introduced a sabre technical class to be held on Monday nights, which is focused at developing and improving technical skill (such as footwork and bladework) for sabre fencers.
