Code of Conduct
As a sports player, I understand and agree that:

I will always play by the rules

I will never argue with an official. If I disagree with a decision I will inform the captain, coach or manager during a break or after the competition

I will control my temper. I understand that verbal abuse of officials and sledging other players and deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent are not acceptable or permitted behaviours in any sport

I will work equally hard for myself and/or my team
-
I will be a good sport and applaud all good plays whether they are made by my team or the opposition
-
I will treat all players in my sport as I like to be treated. I will not bully or take unfair advantage of another competitor
-
I will cooperate with my coach, team mates and opponents
-
I will display modesty in victory and graciousness in defeat
-
I will participate for my own enjoyment and benefit
-
I will not arrive at the venue intoxicated or drink alcohol
-
I will respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion
-
I will thank the opposition and officials at the end of the game
-
I will comply with anti-doping policies
Terms & Conditions
By registering yourself as a member of the La Trobe University Badminton Club Incorporated, you understand and agree that:

You are bound by the Club’s Constitution, By-Laws and Policies (if any), and all relevant La Trobe University policies (as developed and amended from time to time).

The Club may reject your application for membership, accept your application but impose certain conditions or vary, suspend or cancel your membership during the membership term at its sole discretion.

You understand that membership fees are non-refundable (even if a membership is varied, suspended or cancelled) and your membership is not transferable.

You consent to the Club, La Trobe University and government and commercial partners taking, retaining and reproducing the image and likeness of you in any way pertaining to your membership or your involvement in badminton. You further agree that any such images or likeness may be used by any of these parties in reporting or marketing materials including online publications without any further notice or payment to you.

If your Club membership is accepted, you understand that you will become a registered member in the Club's online platform. As a registered member, you understand you will receive administrative communications from the Club. You may also receive direct marketing communications.
The Five Principles of Fair Play
Integrity:

Being honest, fair, respectful, trustworthy, reliable, open and transparent in all dealings;

Avoiding any real or perceived conflicts of interest;
-
Striving to earn and sustain a high level of community trust and goodwill;
-
Not engaging in, or advocating the possession and use of banned performance enhancing substances or methods, or illicit drugs;
-
Not participating in, or encouraging action that may jeopardise the integrity of sport and active recreation including match-fixing, illegal sports betting and other forms of corruption.
Respect:

Treating everyone involved in sport and active recreation in a considerate, objective and courteous manner with proper regard for their rights, dignity and worth;
-
Refraining from any form of discrimination, harassment, bullying, abuse, child abuse, intimidation, victimisation or vilification of others, including on the basis of age, race, sex, disability, sexuality, gender identity or religion;

Recognising and valuing the contribution of all to sport and active recreation, including volunteers who give up their valuable time to make sport and active recreation possible.
Responsibility:

Considering and accepting the consequences of one’s actions and decisions;
-
Being a positive role model by displaying self-control, respect, care and diligence towards all involved in sport and active recreation;

Understanding the consequences of Fair Play Code breaches and reporting as appropriate.
Fairness:

Understanding and playing by the rules and in the spirit of sport and active recreation;
-
Being informed, consistent, impartial, just and reasonable in dealings with others;
-
Being a “good sport” by encouraging and praising fair play over winning at all costs;
-
Ensuring a “fair go” for people of all abilities to be involved in sport and active recreation.
Safety:

Providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment that places the health, welfare and wellbeing of participants above all else;
-
Taking all reasonable steps to ensure equipment, facilities and programs meet health and safety standards and are appropriate for the age and ability of participants;
-
Being aware of and supporting policies and practices in relation to injury management, return to play, adverse weather and member protection and child safeguarding;
-
Showing concern and caution towards others who may be sick or injured and immediately reporting any safety issues to appropriate authorities.
PRIVACY
To assist us in the provision of products and services, we need to collect personal information about you. When you provide personal information you agree that this will be used by the Club under the terms of this statement. You may contact the Club Committee to access and seek correction of your personal information or complain about a breach of your privacy. If you do not agree, you must not provide your personal information, and you may be unable to access all of the Club products and services including but not limited to registration as a Club member. The Club may disclose your personal information to other parties and third parties who provide us products and services. From time to time, these third parties may be located (and therefore your personal information may be disclosed) overseas. The Club may use and disclose your personal information for direct marketing purposes regarding the products and services you are signing up to receive, unless you opt-out (which you can do at any time).
The Privacy Amendment Act 2001 imposes obligations upon organisations collecting personal information to protect that information. The Club carries out ongoing marketing and communication activities to maintain a positive profile. Images of individuals in photographs or film are treated as personal information under the Privacy Act where the person’s identity is clear or can reasonably be worked out from that image. Photos and video footage of the Club’s members/event attendees are used regularly by the Club for a few purposes and under current legislation this practice can continue. These situations are generally to acknowledge the efforts of the members/event attendees, or for promotion of the club. The material may continue to be used for a number of years, even once the person’s membership/event attendance has ceased and that some of the products in which the material is used may have extended longevity. No remuneration is offered to members/event attendees for whom consent is given to take part in marketing or promotional activities. At all times ownership of any material obtained from the above activities will vest with the Club.***** ‘Use’ includes: to create, make copies of or reproduce or retain in any form, including by camera, video, webcam, closed circuit television, mobile phone or any form of digital recorder or device - including still or motion - ;and to distribute, publish or communicate in any form, including in newsletters and other print media, television and the Internet, in whole or in part, and to permit other persons to do so). *****
